Get behind the lens of Jini Dellaccio in a new documentary about the music photographer’s life and work. Seattle’s own John Jeffcoat is the director of photography for the film and director/producer Karen Whitehead of Five Star Films is excited to be working with a Seattle based crew. The film features Seattle music history, as well as a recent photoshoot Jini did with Seattle band The Moondoggies (see video below!). Now in her 90’s, Jini is a woman whose artistic independence, imagination and passion took her from humble beginnings to producing some of the most transformative images ever created in rock ‘n’ roll. The film explores Jini’s extraordinary journey, her courage as an artist, often defying convention and navigating traditional male dominated worlds at a time when very few women were doing so. The film weaves behind the scenes stories of her stunning photography with Jini’s own reflections on her work. Musicians, artists and critics also share their insights into Jini’s influence as an artist who took rock ‘n roll photography to a new level of excellence. The film team is using Kickstarter to raise funds to complete the project and you have the opportunity to help share this incredible story. At Northwest Film Forum on March 12th Jini Dellaccio will be the guest of honor for a special trailer screening event, and follow the link above for more info on the documentary.
