EMP has announced that the April 16 launch of the highly-anticipated Taking Punk to the Masses tour will also be accompanied by two exclusive opening-day panels. “Nirvana: from Nowhere to Nevermind” will chronicle behind-the-scenes road stories from Nirvana’s early 90s world tours, as seen through the eyes of the people that kept it rolling— the band’s sound engineer Craig Montgomery and drum tech Barrett Jones, with even more guests still to be announced. Nirvana: Taking Punk to the Masses curator Jacob McMurray will moderate this panel and will also lead the discussion in “The Metropolis: Birthplace of Grunge?” which explores the salad days of Seattle punk rock while also pondering the role of the long-gone punk rock venue The Metropolis, as the cradle of the Grunge movement. Jason Finn (Love Battery, The Presidents of the USA), famed grunge photographer Charles Peterson, Alice in Chains manager Susan Silver, Tom Price (Gas Huffer, U-Men) and Kurt Bloch (Fastbacks, Young Fresh Fellows) are all slated to serve on the panel. Hit up the above link for the full scoop on the panels.
