SHELBY EARL’S “AT THE START” IS NPR’S “SONG OF THE DAY”

NPR
“At the Start” from local songstress Shelby Earl’s acclaimed new album, Burn the Boats, is NPR’s song of the Day! Earl’s song actually features a trio of local musical talents: cultural luminary John Roderick—who also produced Burn the Boats—sings in duet with Earl while Telekinesis frontman Benjamin Lerner is featured on the drums. In NPR’s estimation, this unique collaboration sparked some real musical magic: “An ode to the end of an affair, ‘At the Start’ finds Earl sounding defiantly triumphant, with Roderick dropping his guard to play the crestfallen. “We’re right where we’ve always been,” they sing together, adding, ‘At the start, we could see the end.’ It’s the one who got away and the one who got left behind, singing together beautifully in just one highlight from Earl’s warm, wonderful new record.” Follow the above link to read the entire NPR feature and to have a listen to the song of the day.
