KICK-OFF EVENT TOMORROW TO CELEBRATE NEW “MUSIC MATTERS” LICENSE PLATES

MUSIC AID NORTHEWEST 
This Saturday, January 14, at Big Daddy’s Place in Woodinville, Music Aid Northwest will host Play It Forward II, the official kick-off event for our Music Matters license plates to fund music programs in Washington schools. Unfortunately the event is sold out, so for those who are unable to attend in person, a live stream will be broadcast at 6:30 on myseattlenightout.com/entertainment.  The evening will include Steve Fossen and Mike Derosie of Heart, Alan White and Good Company, Jammin Challenge Band Contest, and “Elvis” aka Tracy Alan Moore.

WOMEN FILMAKERS: LAST CHANCE TO SUBMIT YOUR WORK TO THE 2012 POST ALLEY FILM FESTIVAL

Post Alley Film Festival 
The “absolute deadline” for submissions to the 2012 Post Alley Film Festival (PAFF) is this Friday, January 13. On Saturday, February 25, PAFF will screen two dozen hand-picked shorts that range from 3 to 25 minutes from noon to 6:30pm at the new SIFF Film Center in the Seattle Center.

A Call to Action for Business from Washington Filmworks

Washington Filmworks 
Since its creation in 2007, Washington Filmworks’ Motion Picture Competitiveness Program has brought film productions to our state that have spent over $38 million of spending with Washington businesses, and created more than 4,000 immediate jobs. Businesses that sustain and gain from film production are asked to write their legislators, urging them to renew the Motion Picture Competitiveness Program during the 2012 legislative session, and are invited to use the Washington Filmworks Business Letter of Support at the above link. PORTLANDIA RETURNS THIS WEEK WITH A LOCAL CELEBRITY

Pitchfork
The new season of the popular television show, “Portlandia,” kicks off this Friday on IFC, however Pitchfork has posted a sneak-preview for eager fans. The first episode of the second season features local celebrity Eddie Vedder. The episode is “Battlestar Galactica”-themed,  and offers just as much humor as the first season.
