The Capitol Hill Times
Maureen is in a rut. Her life, like her house, is drab, if not chillingly eerie. But when something catches her eye – a surreal image? A portal? – through an open cupboard door, Maureen is compelled to seek out this warm and familiar place. Her journey through a series of fantastical and surreal experiences is the subject of the dialogue-less short film currently shooting on Capitol Hill. “Maureen” is the first project from newly formed Seattle production outfit Bow and Lyre. Anna Conser and Kara Schoonmaker, two 27-year-old Seattle natives, founded the non-profit last year in anticipation of their first major project. Schoonmaker calls the film a zero-budget production, even though some costs were inevitable. After purchasing some gear, the duo plan to spend $3,000 on the entire project.
