Sub Pop
A auction to benefit the family of Sub Pop’s late and great Andy Kotowicz, is now open for bidding. Launched in support of Kotowicz’s wife and young daughter, the auction features a diverse array of goodies from the likes of Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Muse, The Rolling Stones, Band of Horses and even Conan O’Brien. Thus far the auction has generated more than $15,000 for newly-launched Andy Kotowicz Family foundation, and bidding will remain open until December 14. Says Sub Pop, “[This is a]testament to the very full life lived by our friend. On behalf of Andy’s family and as part of it, we at Sub Pop Records are deeply grateful.” Don’t forget: A benefit concert with performances from some of the Sub Pop’s brightest stars—Shabazz Palaces, Mudhoney, Wolf Eyes, Vetiver and more—will also be held this Saturday, December 4th at Showbox at the Market. Sound on the Sound
The Seattle music scene has been mourning the loss of Sub Pop’s Andy Kotowicz for a couple weeks now. Blogs, newsletters and supporters have been pouring out their love for Andy in their publications. Pearl Jam has donated an autographed guitar for auction to help with the Andy Kotowicz Family Foundation, and now musicians across the city are coming together for a couple benefit concerts. The first is happening on November 19 at The Sunset and will feature music from The Intelligence, Unnatural Helpers and Partman Parthorse. The second is on December 4 at Showbox at the Market, where bands including A-Frames/AFCGT, Fruit Bats, Mudhoney, Michael Yonkers, Pissed Jeans, Shabazz Palaces, Vetiver and Wolf Eyes will perform in order to raise money for Andy’s wife and young daughter. Pearl Jam is auctioning off an autographed guitar to benefit the family of Andy Kotowicz, the late Vice President of Sales at Sub Pop who tragically passed away in a car accident October 21. “This is just incredibly nice and generous and we are all very grateful,” says the Sub Pop blog and website. “Thanks so much, Pearl Jam and Ten Club.” Proceeds from the auction will go to the Andy Kotowicz Family Foundation, which is also accepting donations via a Sound Community Bank account you can access here . Andy is survived by his wife of 10 years and their young daughter as well as a large extended family.
