Pitchfork
Pitchfork praises Sub Pop’s Bleach reissue and its companion “Live at Reading” DVD saying “even if you’re the sort of Nirvana die-hard who’s been sitting on an audio bootleg of this gig for the past 17 years, you really need the DVD– for a band whose visual legacy mostly amounts to a handful of stylized videos and the lowkey Unplugged special, Live at Reading effectively grants you side-stage access to the band in their mosh-pit-stoking, drum-set-toppling, putting you as close to the action as the band’s mysterious friend Tony, who’s seen flailing onstage throughout the show like an epilpetic Bez.”

Seattle Times
Today Sub Pop reissues Nirvana’s 1989 debut, “Bleach.” The reissue’s a big deal, deserving of appraisal and celebration. Dust off the decades of history and “Bleach” is as seething and catchy and funny as 20 years ago. Packaging is meticulous and includes a half-hour of bonus concert material recorded in Portland in 1990. Click the above link for the rest of Jonathan Zwickel’s review.

The Stranger
Marking the 20th Anniversary of Nirvana’s debut album, Sub Pop will re-issue the Platinum Certified Bleach on November 3, 2009. This expanded CD/double-LP will include a never-before-released live performance, special packaging and the first run of the double-LP will be on 180g white vinyl (the first run of the original LP was also on white vinyl). Both formats will be available for pre-order at subpop.com leading up to this edition’s release. Originally recorded over three sessions with producer Jack Endino at Seattle’s Reciprocal Recording Studios in December 1988 and January 1989, Bleach was released in June of ’89 and remains unequivocally/unsurprisingly Sub Pop’s very favorite Nirvana full-length. The album initially sold 40,000 copies, but was brought into the international spotlight following the release and worldwide success of their 1991sophomore effort, Nevermind. Subsequently Bleach went on to sell 1.7 million copies in the US alone, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
