Support Roxhill & Gatewood Elementary Schools’ music programs by attending a mini-concert by the Westside Symphonette at Gatewood Elementary tonight at 7:30 pm. The suggested admission donation is $1, but be sure to bring money for the bake sale! Westside Symphonette is an all volunteer orchestra of 45 musicians. The program will include orchestral classics as well as a Simon and Garfunkle sing along and feature special performances by advanced orchestral students.

Heart Breaks Open
DiSH! is an all-ages queer variety show that will bring Northwest performers together for a limited engagement to support ‘heart breaks open’ and Lifelong AIDS Alliance. ‘heart breaks open’ is a multi-platform project that will be used to entertain, educate and support. Lifelong AIDS Alliance is committed to preventing the spread of HIV, and to providing practical support services and advocating for those whose lives are affected by HIV and AIDS. On Sunday, March 14, Dual Power Productions will bring drag kings and queens, burlesque performers, musicians, comedians, spoken word artists and a slideshow to the stage at The Vera Project for a night of performances. Performers include The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Belinda Carroll, Mark Finley, Miss Cherry Tart, David Coppafeel, Angel Itenchi, Ilvs Strauss, and more. GIVE YOUR INPUT ON SEATTLE POLICE CHIEF SEARCH

Office of the Mayor
The public is invited to offer feedback and help draft assessment criteria for Seattle’s next Police Chief during several upcoming public forums and through other means, including a dedicated telephone line and a new website that launched this past Monday. The second of three public hearings devoted to the Police Chief search is at 5:30 pm tonight, March 10, at Bertha Knight Landes Room at Seattle’s City Hall. On the agenda: discuss and finalize assessment criteria and discuss candidate interview questions. Want to get involved? The meeting is open to all interested parties. The next public meeting will be on Wednesday, April 21 in the same place. After a closed executive session, the public is invited to be on hand for a vote that will select between 5 – 7 candidates from the 10 – 15 profiles presented by the executive search firm responsible for locating qualified candidates.

Join KCTS 9 at the Seattle Asian Art Museum on Tuesday March 16 at 7:00 pm for an exclusive preview of the documentary, The Buddha, a film by award-winning filmmaker David Grubin. The two-hour documentary explores the story of the enlightened Indian sage using animation and also highlights parts of the Buddha’s world in present-day India.
