DOCUMENTARY FILMMAKERS: STORYVILLE VANCOUVER CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

The Vancouver Film & TV Forum (British Columbia, Canada) runs from September 28 – October 1 plus New Filmmakers’ Day, October 2. The 2010 Forum is proud to stimulate the development, co-financing and co-production of the creative documentary by creating Storyville Vancouver. This will be an opportunity for filmmakers based in the Pacific Northwest to pitch their projects to an international forum of commissioning editors. Pre-selected creative, feature length documentary projects, at various levels of development, from the Pacific Northwest will be publicly pitched to international commissioning editors with accredited Forum observers in attendance. Key commissioning editors from the UK, Sweden, Germany, US, Japan and Canada will be in attendance at the pitch forum. Visit the above link for entry form and regulations. TELLURIDE FILM FESTIVAL SEEKS SUBMISSIONS

The Telluride Film Festival which runs September 3-6 this year, is issuing a last call for film submissions.The deadline is July 1 for any last shorts or student films that want a shot at a slot in the 37th annual fest. EMP|SFM’S SCIENCE FICTION + FANTASY SHORT FILM FESTIVAL NOW ACCEPTING ENTRIES

Science fiction and fantasy cinema filmmakers can now submit their films for Experience Music Project|Science Fiction Museum’s (EMP|SFM) 2011 Science Fiction + Fantasy Short Film Festival (SFFSFF). The 6th annual festival will screen 20 films at the Cinerama Theatre in early 2011. EMP|SFM, in partnership with the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF), is encouraging original and creative science fiction film submissions 15 minutes or shorter in length for the festival. The festival will accept original entries created no earlier than January 2006. The final submission deadline is September 15. Follow the above link for submission guidelines and more information.

SUBMIT A FILM TO THE CHILDREN’S FILM FESTIVAL SEATTLE 2011

Northwest Film Forum has announced a call for entries to Children’s Film Festival Seattle 2011. The largest competitive children’s film festival in the Pacific Northwest, Children’s Film Festival Seattle celebrates the best and brightest in international children’s cinema with a 10-day extravaganza of films from more than 25 countries. The festival’s programs include live performances, animation, features, shorts, historical films and hands-on workshops for the filmmakers of tomorrow. Children’s Film Festival Seattle 2011 will take place in Northwest Film Forum’s two cinemas and it will be Friday, January 28 through Sunday, February 6. All films submitted to Children’s Film Festival Seattle will also be considered for the 6th annual REDCAT International Children’s Film Festival, to be presented by Roy and Edna Disney CalArts Theater in Los Angeles, California in 2011.The deadline for submissions is September 27. DOCUMETARIANS: SUBMIT TO THE BIG SKY FILM FESTIVAL

Big Sky Documentary Film Festival
The Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, the premier venue for nonfiction film in the American West, seeks submissions for its eighth annual event. From February 11-20, 2011 the festival will screen 100+ films, including world and U.S. premieres, classics, rare and experimental works on Montana’s largest screen at the historic Wilma Theater in downtown Missoula, Montana. The competitive event is open to non-fiction films and videos of all genres, subject matter, lengths, and production dates. The deadline to apply is October 15. RED ROCK FILM FESTIVAL OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS

Red Rock Film Festival
Red Rock Film Festival of Zion Canyon aims to encourage the production of media in both the independent and professional market that portray the human race in a positive light, and to applaud original works that redefine media through innovation, creativity and sensitivity. The festival has a strong focus on women’s issues and encourages submissions from women filmmakers. Works in progress are also considered and encouraged. Films must have been completed in 2009 or 2010. They are seeking International and US entries in several categories. Deadline to apply is July 15. They are looking for experimental film and video, including but not limited to, animation, documentary, narrative, abstract and found footage. The ATA Film and Video Festival is committed to showcasing short films and videos that use an unconventional stylistic and technical approach and bring up subjects or concepts that not only entertain, but also provoke, their diverse audience.
