CALL FOR ENTRIES TO THE PUGET SOUND YOUNG FILMMAKER AWARD

The event to be featured in this year’s Award will be the First Annual Kirkland Health and Wellness Fair (kirklandhealthfair.com) taking place June 19th at Parkplace Center in downtown Kirkland, Washington. Each student team will be creating a short film, 15-25 minutes, documenting the one day event, including, at the filmmaker’s discretion, any of the planning, set up, reaction, and impact of the event. This event involves many aspects of the health and wellness Community all coming together for the sake of enriching the community through free public Health and Wellness education. This competition is open to filmmakers in the Puget Sound area under age thirty. There will be a maximum of three student teams. Deadline to apply is July 19, 2010. SUBMIT TO THE SEATTLE COMMUNITY COLLEGE FILM FESTIVAL

The Seattle Central Film Festival is an opportunity for all students, faculty, staff, and alumni to present their films and/or videos to an audience. It’s a celebration of our local filmmakers. As long as you are affiliated with Seattle Community College District, you can submit a film. This year they’re accepting submissions from all campuses: North, Central, and South. The person submitting the film must have had a major creative role in the production of the film/video. The deadline to apply is May 18, 2010. Citizen Jane Film Festival
Citizen Jane Film Festival takes place in Columbia, Missouri every fall. CJFF tackles the gross underrepresentation of women in the film industry with wild rebellion through art! With unique film experiences, lively discussions, workshops, and boisterous parties, CJFF honors female filmmakers from diverse backgrounds and in all stages of their careers. They bring guest artists and audiences from all over to share ideas and build a collaborative community to last far beyond the festival itself. Mid Atlantic Black Film Festival aims to provide a cultural alternative to the commercial film experience; to support independent artists and the presentation of independent film; and promote the art of filmmaking itself with a focus on the development of creativity and ideas. Open to independently-produced works in diverse genres (including dramas, biographies, documentaries, docudramas, comedies, etc.) that have been written, directed, or produced by a person of African descent or that tell a story about the Black experience and/or feature a person of African descent in a lead role. Topanga Film Festival
Nominated as “one of the 25 coolest film festivals in the world” by Filmmaker Magazine, the Topanga Film Festival accepts any genre of short film that challenges conventions with an original voice and point of view. The open-air festival endeavors to bridge cultures, create and expand community, and provide cultural exchange, networking opportunities and educational outreach. Seeking Short films (1-25 minutes; preferred length is 2-10 minutes) in any genre. Up to two films of special merit will be chosen as showcase films. Showcase films can be over 30 minutes. Telluride Film Festival
Telluride Film Festival seeks entries in all categories including student, short, and feature-length films. Shorts and student film submissions must be received no later than 5:00 pm, July 1, 2010. Feature film submissions must be received no later than 5:00 pm, July 15, 2010. All submissions must have been completed after July 15, 2009 and no works in progress will be accepted. Feature-length films (60 minutes or longer) will only be considered if they are to have their first North American screening at Telluride Film Festival. Professional and amateur filmmakers working in all aesthetic disciplines and genres including narrative, documentary, animation, and experimental are welcome. Short & Sweet, a weekly short film festival in London, seeks short films in the growing stereoscopic medium. Short & Sweet 3D is an exciting new step celebrating independent, maverick, cutting-edge filmmaking in the growing stereoscopic medium. Entries are sought in a wide variety of content including fiction, documentary, music videos, live action, and animation. Digital submissions only — individual left/right AVI files or QuickTime format preferred. The final exhibition format is via the XpanD system, and selected entries will be encoded to DCP for that format. The deadline to apply is June 1. SUBMIT SHORT FILMS TO THE NORTHWEST FILM FORUM CONCERT FILM CHALLENGE

Northwest Film Forum
Seattle is a haven for live music, and Northwest Film Forum is the home for many concert films that pass through the city. To honor our musical heritage, this quarter they ask local filmmakers to turn their eyes on the music scene and make concert films no longer than 5 minutes for the Concert Film Challenge. Since they expect the response for the challenge to surpass previous challenges, they reserve the right to curate this program, and possibly host multiple screening dates and times. The Northwest Film Forum is now accepting submission for the 13th annual Local Sightings Film festival. Local Sightings is the annual showcase of current narrative, documentary and experimental film by Northwest artists. The weeklong festival also features panel discussions, historic NW films, a filmmaker lounge, a stellar opening night party, and juried awards for a winning short and feature film! 4CULTURE NOW ACCEPTING DIGITAL MEDIA SUBMISSIONS

4Culture seeks media works for presentation in e4c, its storefront gallery for electronic art. 4Culture is seeking electronic artworks for e4c. Up to sixteen media works or media proposals will be selected for presentation through this public, electronic gallery for a period of up to one year. Due to the transitory nature of the audience, works between 1-5 minutes are desired. Media artists working in all genres are encouraged to apply. e4c is located adjacent to Gallery4Culture facing Prefontaine Place South in Seattle’s Pioneer Square neighborhood. Applications will be evaluated on appropriateness in concept and content for a public location. Work samples should represent the artist’s ability to prepare a high quality media presentation.
