Their internships include experiences in the community outreach, cinema marketing, cinema publicity, graphic design, individual giving & membership, and administrative fields. There are a ton of options for getting experience in the world of Film and Film Events.

One Reel is a Seattle-based non-profit arts, cultural, and special events producer specializing in events that inform as well as entertain. The organization has developed events as diverse and successful as Family Fourth at Lake Union, Bumbershoot, Teatro ZinZanni “Dinner and Dreams,” and many, many more.  Right now, One Reel – alongside City of Music partners, including the Seattle Office of Film + Music, KEXP, Sub Pop, and more – is developing a program called City of Music Career Day. One Reel seeks one talented intern to work on the event from August 6, to early October. The intern will gain valuable insight and experience in event coordination, including planning, partner, sponsor and vendor cultivation, and on-site coordination. City of Music Career Day will take place on September 27 at the Rainier Room in Seattle Center.

The Seattle Offices of Film + Music and Economic Development are accepting applications through March 11th for a combined communications internship. Interns participate in a variety of activities for OFM & OED, including marketing, communication, and outreach tasks supporting the City’s economic development mission. The program runs for six months, from March 26th – September 30th. Most successful participants have a background in economics/political science, communications, and film/music/interactive media. Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) is accepting applications for a new Development Associate position. The position requires working closely with SIFF’s Corporate Sponsorship Manager, and being ultimately responsible for the development and management of the SIFF Community Partners Program. This position is to be filled as soon as possible, so contact them immediately if you’re interested.

SIFF also has two internship positions posted on their website, one to fill a role in the Individual Giving Department and another in Marketing and Outreach.

Washington Filmworks
Washington Filmworks is a non-profit organization that offers production assistance to commercials, television and feature films shooting in Washington, as well as managing the state’s production incentive program. Filmworks is currently seeking a part-time intern with a minimum 3-month commitment of 20 hours per week. Prior background in film not required, but individuals must be self-motivated with strong communication, computer, writing, organizational and research skills. Applicants must be enrolled in a post-secondary educational program leading to an undergraduate or graduate degree and in good standing at their college or university and retain their student status until the end of the internship. Artist Trust
Artist Trust seeks a part-time Development Intern to aid the local arts non-profit in all aspects of development. The responsibilities for this Internship include assistance in: the collection and distribution of information about funding and opportunities; special events and award receptions; database management of donors and members and the general administration of Development activities. This unpaid internship provides exposure to Washington state arts and artists in addition to valuable insight into the arena of non-profit development. The Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs is looking to fill two paid internship positions to work closely with its communications team and provide administrative support for the department. The internships duties include: researching media and industry news, maintaining social media sites, aiding in hosting concerts and events, writing and uploading newsletter content, day-to-day office duties and perpetuating the internship program.
