FMHappyHourThe Office of Film and Music ‘s Happy Hour event is returning on Wednesday, January 30. Happy Hour takes place at Spitfire Bar and Restaurant in Belltown from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. It will be a good chance to network, chat, share, and learn among industry leaders in the film, music, and interactive industries.

This month’s Happy Hour will feature special guest Robert Horton, a local film critic and the curator of MOHAI’s new exhibit, Celluloid Seattle. Mr. Horton will share some thoughts about Seattle as a character in film, Seattle as an “imagined place” in film, and more.

Film + Music + Interactive Happy Hour is a monthly event that averages upwards of 200 people a month to bring people engaged in these industries together. Come join us on January 30. More Info Here.


Happy Hour
Miss us? We know you did. Happy Hour returns this week with a new look and format. Now the Film, Music and Interactive Happy Hour, we will continue to host our event at Spitfire in Belltown on the last Wednesday of the month from 5-7 pm. At 6:30 pm, a special guest speaker will give a presentation in the private black box theater in the back of the venue. This Wednesday, we welcome UW Associate Professor Margaret O’Mara, who wrote the tech-focused book Cities of Knowledge: Cold War Science and the Search for the Next Silicon Valley. For those who want to continue mingling at the bar, we’ll broadcast the presentation on the monitors located throughout Spitfire. Join us on Wednesday, September 28 for the exciting re-launch of Happy Hour! Presenting partners of this event are Washington Filmworks, The Pacific Northwest Chapter of The Recording Academy, Geekwire, Art of Institute of Seattle, and Spitfire.

There are two compelling reasons not to miss tomorrow’s event:

1. Come welcome the return of Office of Film + Music director James Keblas! James recently returned to the office from a paternity leave and is ecstatic to rejoin the happy hour fold.

Seattle has been a growing hub for film, music and digital media over the past several years, and it is vital for these three communities to interact for our city to continue to thrive. This Happy Hour offers just such an environment for people from these industries to socialize, network, and build a unified community.
The Happy Hour averages an attendance of 150-200 people each month. While this offers a great opportunity to meet and network with such a vibrant community, it can also seem daunting. To tame such an unwieldy beast, check out our eight essential Happy Hour tips to help you score your next big business deal.

Happy Hour is hosted at the Spitfire Lounge, located at 2219 4th Avenue in Belltown (between Blanchard and Bell). There will be Happy Hour priced drinks and snacks available.

These Happy Hour events are held on the last Wednesday of every month from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. You must be 21+ to attend. We hope to see you there!

Speed Connect
SPEED CONNECT is like speed dating, except instead of getting a date you get a job in the film industry. During the span of 30 minutes, you will get the chance to talk to various film professionals for 2 minutes each in order to procure contacts and connections for film projects. Bring business cards and a notebook to take notes. Those who do not wish to participate in SPEED CONNECT can simply mingle and enjoy the beverages and food available. The event takes place at Barca Lounge on Tuesday, October 5 from 7-9:30.

Women in Film – Seattle
Women in Film – Seattle is an internationally connected professional organization of women working in film, television, video and new media dedicated to supporting and building not only the careers of its members, but the industry at large. Every first Tuesday of the month, find out what’s happening at WIF. Network, share stories of your most recent gig, bring a DVD to show off either a work in progress or finished video/film, have a glass of wine and snacks, and donate to the WIF kitty. Seattle Area Filmmakers
Seattle Area Filmmakers is hosting a networking event for filmmakers this Wednesday from 6:00 to 10:00 pm. Come mingle at Kells Irish Pub and join crew and cast for an evening of fun. If you get there before 7:00 pm, you get happy hour prices. The Seattle Area Filmmakers group is going to have every first Wednesday of the month meet down at Kells in Post Alley – this is in addition to our bi-weekly meetings.

Seattle Subsonic:
After a little hiatus, Subsonic is back off the wagon and ready to get our happy on with some beers and some good friends at our Happy Hour up at Moe bar this (the third) Thursday, March 19th from 5-8pm. Man…I HATE the wagon. This month we’re inviting special guests Hollow Earth Radio out for the night.There will the prerequisite drink and food specials, we’ll have Hollow Earth Radio and other give-aways including CD’s T’s and tix, plus you can always count on a bunch of local music industry folk and friends to be mingling about.
