JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT BRINGS HITRECORD TO SEATTLE TONIGHT

SSG Music
More than five years ago, Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception, 500 Days of Summer, 3rd Rock from the Sun) launched a production company. The beginnings of this collaborative online community was fueled by the straightforward creation of a website called hitRECord.org. Today, hitRECord is a “professional open collaborative production company” that connects filmmakers from all over the world. The grassroots company proves that if the online world is utilized in a collaborative and purposeful manner, a creative synergy can exist and new media and film can flourish. Tonight, Gordon-Levitt (self-coined “average Joe”) will amuse a captive audience at the Neptune Theater when he brings hitRECord to Seattle. It will be a night of performances, short films, story readings, and RECordings, all in time for next month’s release of the first anthology of collaborative projects.

TED
TED (which stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design) has made a name for itself by broadcasting hundreds of free lectures and performances by the most innovative minds in the arts, sciences, humanities and beyond. Former Seattle Symphony principal cellist Joshua Roman was recently chosen as a 2011 TED Fellow. At age 22, Roman was the youngest principal musician in the Seattle Symphony’s history, and he’s been dubbed a “Classical Rock Star” by the media. He left the Seattle Symphony in 2008 to pursue a solo career. In March he performed a duet with LA Philharmonic violinist Robert Gupta (a TED senior fellow) of “Passacaglia,” a piece by Norwegian composer Johan Halvorsen. Filmed for TED before a live audience, the video is a testament to successful musical collaborations and the powerful beauty of classical music.
