Seattle Soundbite
The Seattle Chapter of the Washington Restaurant Association and Caffe Vita Coffee Roasting Company present the third annual Seattle Soundbite featuring “street-style” bites from 12 local restaurants and the jams of the three winning bands from the first online public vote. The evening’s menu also has a special headlining performance by Seattle country-rock musicians, The Maldives (whose members work at Fuel Coffee, Conor Byrne and Tango), with Shawn Stewart of 103.7 The Mountain as MC and DJ Darek Mazzone of KEXP keeping the party going between sets. This event will be tonight, Thursday, April 8, at the Showbox SoDo with doors at 6:00 pm. Proceeds benefit The Vera Project, ProStart and the WRA Seattle Chapter. This Seattle City of Music event is unique in that only Seattle musical groups with at least one member working in the foodservice industry were eligible to audition. The winning acts slated to perform include (restaurant affiliation noted in parentheses): Amsterdam (The Melting Pot); Velcro Mindset (Glendale Country Club); and Sam Russell and the Harborrats (TASTE Restaurant at SAM).

Seattle Times:
Put this date on your calendar: Thursday, March 19. Place? The Showbox SoDo. Time: 6 p.m. Reason: Seattle Soundbite 2009 — your chance to rock and roll (with six Seattle bands), eat “street-style” food (from 13 Seattle restaurants) and watch local musicians prove that restaurants really are hotbeds for creative-types. Sub Pop soundmeisters The Helio Sequence will headline the show, and the local talent — whose audition tapes bought them a shot at Soundbite — features bands with at least one member working in Seattle’s food-service industry. Among them: Bird Show of North America, Sue Quigley, Doctor Doctor, Puget Sound System and Truce, with DJ Reflex keeping the joint jumping between sets.
