Seattle’s favorite avant-garde rappers Shabazz Palaces were recently featured in the UK’s experimental music magazine The Wire. Explains the magazine, “Purposeful and probing, the EPs exhibit a level of maturity and sophistication not only in their stark rhymes, but also the production. Although tagged as ‘experimental,’ they never actually pull away from recognisable [sic] forms of hiphop. Yet, for hiphop, the music is full of unusual sonic details, such as multitracked vocals and mostly self-recorded samples, and reflects a healthy interest in a wider culture embracing dubstep, ragga and Techno.
