CITY ARTS FESTIVAL WRISTBANDS ON SALE TODAY

City Arts Festival
Last week, City Arts Festival released the lineup for its second annual celebration of music, dance, theater, literature and the Seattle art community. Wristbands for the event, which takes place October 20-22, are on sale today. Headliners include Ryan Adams, Robyn, Built to Spill, Ozomatli, and Crystal Castles. A slew of local artists make up the rest of the impressive lineup, including Mudhoney, Fastbacks, The Long Winters, Fences, Campfire OK, USF, Allen Stone, Yuni in Taxco, Seapony, Grand Hallway, Fly Moon Royalty, and many more. Also expect dance workshops, poetry readings, film screenings, a tribute to The Replacements, visual art exhibits, comedy, and some other unconventional performances taking place at 20 different venues around Seattle.

SIFF MOVES INTO NEW FILM CENTER

SIFF
SIFF recently announced its official move from South Lake Union to the brand new SIFF Film Center at Seattle Center. The new location inhabits what used to be the Northwest rooms at Seattle Center, situated at the corner of Republican and Warren Avenue North. In addition to housing the administrative arm of SIFF, the SIFF Film Center also has 100-seat theater showing year-round film programming, a venue for lectures and education programs, a classroom, and a reference library for archival materials.

TEENY AWARDS 2011 FOCUS ON THE BEST IN ARTS FOR TEENS

Teen Tix Blog
Seattle youth are encouraged to voice their opinions about this past year’s arts offerings as part of Teen Tix’s Teeny Awards 2011. Teen Tix provides affordable access to film, dance, theater, and other performances for teens ages 13-19. The Teeny Awards categories are both straight forward and irreverent, ranging from Best Art Exhibit to Best Bathrooms to Best Date Venue. Among the nominees are some fantastic film organizations (National Film Festival for Talented Youth, SIFF, NWFF, and more) and excellent musical performances (Sound Off! 2011 at EMP, Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue at Seattle Symphony, and more). Voting is open to Teen Tix members only, so those qualified to participate should head on over to the Teen Tix blog and check out the full list of nominees.
